While Chet has my book, I’m confined to here.
We went to see our friend play at a gig the other day, he was supporting Listener and i didn’t really plan on going till he surprisingly drove down and picked me up mid day and we set for Southampton. I felt more obliged to then. He was great anyway, and I guess it was no harm seeing Listener again. We met a woman from Holland outside the venue, it was her last night in southampton before she left, she was studying a language course in Bournemouth, i didn’t get her name but she said she lived east of Rotterdam at Doetichem.
I told her about how my mum moved from Dordrecht at a really young age to come work in England and she then explained to me how she went to africa when she was only 22 to do some volunteer work. I thought that was pretty amazing, I’ve begun to admire that more and more, I’d love to travel to a country to work, and naturally learn the language fluently. I think it would be an interesting stage in my life.
It got awkward anyway, she stared really intensely when she talked, and came to watch the first band, who were terrible, I can’t possibly put it into words. She bought a cd and left. It was a pretty complete night. We went back to Chet’s and relaxed. Animals As Leaders were playing the next day, but I’d only vaguely heard them, I’d wish I’d gone now. Tosin Abasi is a ridiculous guitarist.
